Smart contract pioneer Nick Szabo comes to Korea
Nick Szabo and Adam Back, pioneers of smart contracts and proof-of-work algorithms, are coming to Korea. They will appear as speakers at the D.Fine blockchain conference. It will be their first time taking the stage in Korea. D.Fine? D.Fine is a global blockchain conference hosted by five blockchain media outlets, including JoinD, Factblock and Hashed. Nick Szabo and Adam Back are confirmed speakers. More speakers are to be announced in the future. Cryptocurrency pioneer Nick Szabo Dubbed the “father of cryptocurrency,” Nick Szabo is a notable figure in the industry. He first suggested the concept of smart contracts in 1994 and published BitGold in 1998, which is now referred to as the origin of bitcoin. He proposed the fundamentals and structure of bitcoins today and is one of the people rumored to be Nakamoto Satoshi, the developer of bitcoin. PoW algorithm developer Adam Back Blockstream co-founder Adam Back invented hashcash in 1997, a proof of work system (PoW) that can prevent spam mail. The PoW algorithm implemented in hashback is now used as the main mining algorithm for major cryptocurrencies, such as bitcoin and ethereum. Keynote speakers: Szabo and Back These two key figures will be giving keynote speeches at D.Fine. Their main theme will be about where blockchain and bitcoin stand today. There will also be a floor discussion on future opportunities in blockchain for companies and governments. Korea Blockchain Week (KBW): Sept. 27 – Oct. 4 D.Fine will be part of the Korea Blockchain Week, hosted by blockchain project accelerator Factblock. It will run from the last week of September to the first week of October. On Sept. 27 a “Blockfesta 2019,” held by the media outlet Blockmedia, will take place at the National Assembly Building in Yeouido, western Seoul. The event’s main conference, D.Fine, will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1 at the Intercontinental Parnas Hotel on the second and fifth floors. On Oct. 1, there will be an official D.Fine networking party. KBW’s main conference, D.Fine, will be the first event co-hosted by Factblock and Hashed and Korea’s five main blockchain media: JoongAng Ilbo (JoinD), Hankyoreh (Coindesk Korea), Seoul Economic Daily (Decenter), Financial News (Blockpost) and Blockmedia.
