NongHyup Bank has adopted a mobile digital employee ID card system
NongHyup Bank has adopted a mobile digital employee ID card system, which is built on a decentralized identification technology by Initial DID Association, a local blockchain network. It’s the first time the ID technology has been used. Supported by the Korea Internet & Security Agency, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Initial DID Association consists of banks and carriers. The bank announced on Tuesday that it introduced the mobile employee ID system. As members of the association, NongHyup Bank and SK Telecom led the development of the system. The mobile application allows employees to register for a new ID and manage the their records of clocking in and out of work. In the future, the tech company plans to make the system allow for simply payments as well. Decentralized ID? The decentralized ID technology refers to electronic ID system. An individual will have the right to protect his or her private information, which prevents the large-scale theft of personal information data. Initial DID Association? The Initial DID Association is supported by the Korea Internet & Security Agency and the Ministry of Science and ICT. The participants include the NongHyup Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, Hana Bank, Shinhan Bank, Woori Bank, SK Telecom, KT, LG U+, BC Card, Hyundai Card, Samsung Electronics, CJ OliveNetworks, Samsung SDS and Koscom.
